Kids Kino Docs: Consultations with Anders Refn. And call for projects for the 2nd edition

At the beginning of June, Anders Refn, a long-time collaborator of Lars von Trier, visited Warsaw to run three-day editing consultations with one of the participants of the first edition of the Kids Kino Docs workshop – Aga Borzym, the director of Girls’ Stories. The Danish editor was invited by our tutor Kirsten Bonnén Rask. The call for the second edition of Kids Kino Docs is open!

The consultations were part of a special programme providing additional individual support to the participants of the Kids Kino Docs workshop.

“Thanks to the Kids Kino Docs workshop, I had a special opportunity to consult the project with Anders Refn (known for his work on films like Breaking the Waves and Antichrist). For 3 days, we discussed the shot scenes and re-wove the first 30 minutes of my film. It was great to work with a filmmaker with a lot of experience, who is willing to share it and at the same time is open to the other person’s opinion. These consultations were a unique pleasure and an inspiration to look at the material in a different way”, said Aga Borzym.

We are looking forward to seeing a new version of Girls’ Stories during the next round of our workshops in August.

Kids Kino Docs – submit your project and work with us!

Kids Kino Docs is a 15-month Polish-Norwegian programme aimed at filmmakers working on documentary projects for young viewers which are at the development and pre-production stage. The programme is open to short, medium, and full-length films and series.

Kids Kino Docs consists of four workshop rounds in Poland and Norway. The participants work on film material they have produced within the programme.

As part of the workshop sessions, the participants will work on a variety of aspects: improving their ideas, collecting documentation, preparing for filming, filming itself, and, finally, editing.

The workshops are based on an individual approach: only 6 projects are developed in each edition.

During the programme, our participants work with tutors to analyse what kind of support will be the most beneficial for their project at a particular stage. In the case of Girls’ Stories, which has already completed most of the shooting, editing consultations were the most important, but the support for each subsequent project will be tailored individually.

Follow us on social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn), where we will share further progress and information about Kids Kino Docs and all our activities.

The call for projects for the 2nd edition of Kids Kino Docs continues until the 1st of August! The programme is open to Polish and Norwegian filmmakers.
