The schedule is now available on our website! This year, the Kids Kino Industry will be held in Warsaw, Poland and online from 28 September to 1 October 2021.

Hybrid formula of the forum includes:

  • pre-forum online masterclass (27.09)
  • three hybrid days (28/29/30.09)
  • one online day (1.10)

27 SEPTEMBER. PRE-FORUM WARM-UP SESSION

On 27 September (5 – 6:30 PM), a day before the Kids Kino Industry kicks off, we have planned for KKI Forum participants a special pre-forum online masterclass: BUILDING THE BIBLE.

The host, Andrew Kavanagh, will guide you through the page-by-page mechanics of creating an industry standard one-sheet and 24 page bible – distilling story-world, characters and narrative into concise but compelling text and visuals. He will also introduce you to experienced industry experts: Colin Williams, Creative Director at Sixteenth South (Northern Ireland, UK), Katharina Pietzsch, Director ZDF.junior at ZDF Enterprises (Germany), Tatiana Kober, President, Bejuba! Entertaimment (USA), featuring bible examples, including insights on how to approach different genres and platforms, and guidance on developing your project bible.

28 SEPTEMBER. HEALTH PASS CHECKING AND PITCHINGS

28 September will be an arrival day for most of our Guests who decided to come to Warsaw.

All Participants will be required to show the Health Pass (in Polish or English) to attend the event in Warsaw. Learn more if you are coming to Warsaw this year.

The first round of pitchings starts at 3:15 PM after a short welcome introduction by Maciej Jakubczyk, Head of Education Department at New Horizons Association and Viola Gabrielli, Head of Programme at KKI.

After the pitchings and Q&A sessions of six projects in In Development stage there will be a short break to fuel up the energy level and at 4:30 PM we will be back with the second round of pitchings and Q&A sessions with the creators of another six projects in In Development and Work in Progress stage.

Consultations’ Tables

On the first and second day of the forum all the Participants will have a possibility to book a consultations with Kids Kino lab script tutors: Armin Prediger and Philip LaZebnik as well as with Maurice Wheeler, Managing Director of We Are Family, our marketing and audience building expert (consultation with Maurice available only on 28 Sept). The first day will end up with an on-site Speed Meetings hosted by KIDS Regio and dinner – join us and mingle with Producer LINK, Kids Kino Lab and other KKI attendees.

 

29 SEPTEMBER. MORE PITCHINGS, CONSULTATIONS AND FIRST PANELS

Day two will start with parallel pitching sessions and script consultations with Armin Prediger and Philip LaZebnik.

On Wednesday there will be a presentation of projects from In Development, Work in Progress and Kids Kino Lab sections. The pitchings will be followed by Market Presentation of the project called “Beanie” and 1:1 meetings.

The conference programme starts in the afternoon with three panels waiting for online and on-site Participants.

At 4 PM, Michael Gubbins together with Jakub Karwowski, CEO of Letko (Poland) and Cyprian Marchewka, Development & Creative Producer, Mediabrigade (Poland) will talk about streaming services. In the panel “ONLINE ORIGINALS: Is the VOD-led production boom sustainable?” we will look at market trends and developments, the producer experience of working with streamers in producing content, what streamers want and expect and how to maximise the opportunities of working with streaming platforms for producers and how to navigate the SVOD world, including control over rights.

At 5:15 PM, we will move to the world of money. For the panel “MONEY, MONEY – new models and new business opportunities” we have invited Vojin Vasovic, Creative Director and Milorad Kocić, Executive Director, Animond (Serbia). Join the discussion on new options in the market that might come to revolutionise the production marketplace.

Last panel of the second day of KKI “RETHINKING Distribution and Exhibition for a young audience // FNE Visegrad 2021 Year of Recovery” will be dedicated to the field of distribution and it will be held in cooperation with Film New Europe (FNE) Visegrad 2021 Year of Recovery for Film and Television Industry. Join Katarzyna Grynienko and invited experts Amas Liszka, CEO Budapest Film (Hungary), Ivan Hronec, Head of Film Europe (Czech Republic, Slovakia), Daniel Ratuszniak, Director of Kino Nowe Horyzonty (Poland) to discuss the future role of cinema versus online platforms and how to plan within uncertainty.

This very intensive day will finish with an Award Ceremony during which we will announce the winners of Kids Kino Industry. The awards for our Pitching Teams are funded by Sardegna Film Commission, CeTA, M:Brane and CEE Animation Forum.

30 SEPTEMBER. 1:1 MEETINGS, COMMISSIONERS TALKS AND MORE

We hope that after two days of pitchings the Thursday agenda of our Participants will be filled in with 1:1 meetings.

Parallel to the ongoing online and on-site 1:1 meetings, there are more conference online sessions waiting for our Guests.

At 10 AM, there will be a masterclass with Emmy-winning Australian creators Guy Edmonds and Matt Zeremes, from HARDBALL. This masterclass on comedy writing is being held in cooperation with Polish Screenwriters’ Guild. Watch the trailers of first and second season of HARDBALL.

After a good start, Richard Cooper, Research Director of Ampere Analysis will walk us through “THE CHANGING FACE OF CHILDREN’S INTERNATIONAL SVoD”. The presentation will be followed by Commissioners Talks with Zia Bales, Lead Acquisitions, Partnerships & Coproductions Kids & Family, WarnerMedia EMEA (UK) and Anna Zielinska, Head of Kids Channels, Canal+ Poland and case study “Impactful CROSS SECTOR Partnerships – a talk with Finland’s female leading creators on changing the way IP’s are build”.

In the evening, we are inviting everyone to join us on Wonder for more online networking.

1 OCTOBER. ONLINE MEETINGS, POWERFUL COLLABORATIONS AND MORE ABOUT SVOD

There is never enough of 1:1 meetings. The last day of KKI will be fully online. So the meetings will only be possible via KKI Platform.

What’s more on the last day? There are still two sessions pending.

During the “HOW SVoDs ADAPT TO MEET THE CHALLENGES OF THE NEW EUROPEAN MARKETS” Richard Cooper from Ampere Analysis will continue the topic of SVoD. This time he will examine the Central & Eastern European TV environment and how the international SVoD services are likely to adapt their catalogue offers to extend their subscriber reach.

The last session “MEET THE CREATORS – POWERFUL COLLABORATIONS” is all about the powerful collaborations. Anttu Harlin, Founder, CEO, Gigglebug Entertainment (Finland) & Jakub Karwowski, CEO, Letko (Poland) will unveil how their project have been evolved through meaningful collaborations with international partners.
