We are thrilled to announce the winner of Kids Kino Industry Award, which was chosen personally by Viola Gabrielli, Kids Kino Industry Head of Programme. The award has been given for the first time thanks to our new cooperation with comKids and BrLab. And the awards goes to Colombian webseries “The Fictitious Gang” (13 x 5’).

The aim of this award is to strengthen the co-production possibilities between Europe and Latin America.

Winner of Kids Kino Industry Award:

“The Fictitious Gang”

Produced by Mito Estudio Creativo, written by Lizbeth Mejía Cheng
and directed by Yuly Velasco

Our motivation:

Visually straightforward and presented in the form of an animated collage the project depicts an important and sensitively insightful portrait of teenagers’ inner world and their transition into adulthood. While addressing important topics such as gender, physical appearance, relationships, the meaning of life and social status this highly relevant docu-fiction immerses in anecdotes where the protagonist shares distressing situations and experiences in their teenage life. We like the project’s strong focus on audience participation as the main driver and its appropriation of new media and social networks.

See you in September!

The chosen project will be presented at the KKI forum in September. The creators of the project “The Fictitious Gang” have been given the accreditation which includes: full access to all events held during the KKI, opportunity to meet with invited Decision Makers, as well as free accommodation (if they decided to come to Warsaw, the event is hybrid this year).

“The Fictitious Gang”

“The Fictitious Gang”, is a rebellious and irreverent group of adolescents that resignify the experiences around shame, frustration and mistakes as vital opportunities for creation and personal growth in the face of the constant siege by personal success in the social networks.

The webseries, produced by Mito Estudio Creativo, written by Lizbeth Mejía Cheng and directed by Yuly Velasco, joined projects previously selected to the official KKI line-up.
